Google is introducing continuous scrolling for desktop search results with immediate effect for English in the United States.
The feature was introduced for mobile in October 2021, and desktop is now following suit. It’s continuous rather than infinite scrolling; users will see around 6 pages of results before being prompted to click to ‘see more’.
Google announced the feature on Twitter with a gif showing it in action.
"Starting today, we’re bringing continuous scrolling to desktop in English in the U.S. so you can continue to see more search results easily. When you reach the bottom of a search results page, you'll now be able to see up to six pages of results."

Google says people looking for information tend to browse up to four pages of search results, so this feature will make it a quicker, more seamless process.
It’s also good news for websites who don't make the first page, as this will likely give better visibility.
There's been a fair bit of discussion over the past few months about whether Google is getting worse for search results. The company has been busy making changes and improvements, with the use of its AI tech and more visual results. Continuous scrolling on desktop brings it more in line with social media sites where content is continually loaded to a user’s feed.
