Ads in Google’s AI Overviews are now showing for US users on mobile. Google has been testing the format since May, and says people have found the ads helpful.

Ads will appear when they are relevant to both the query and the response provided, and will come under the familiar Sponsored label.

Google gave the example of a query on how to remove grass stains from jeans. The Overview gives a number of helpful solutions ranging from common household products to commercial products. Relevant Shopping ads appear within the Overview, meaning you wouldn’t have to do a separate search for the right product.

If you’re an advertiser using Search, Shopping or Performance Max campaigns, you are automatically eligible to show ads in AI Overviews, no further action is needed.

“You can show ads in these experiences with your existing AI-powered Search ads, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns. There’s no additional action required.”
